Cold-Formed Steel Design/Testing Engineer

GENERAL SUMMARY

Design and test of Cold Formed Steel framing hardware.  Provide calculation hardware design, tabulated load capacity, and design report. Assist with design and creating CFS framing shop drawing and calculation package for permit/deferred submittal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Phase 1

  • Draw and Design of CFS framing hardware.
  • Provide stamp calculation on design work and establish testing protocol and document test data.
  • Create tested report of designed/tested hardware.

Phase 2

  • Creating and stamped CFS framing shop drawing and calculation package for deferred submittal.
  • Assist with value engineer detailing.
  • Assist with pre-bid value engineer input and preliminary framing size estimate.

Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (CA) [Civil] required.
  • S. degree in Civil/Structural Engineering required.
  • 5 years of structural design experience including wood, steel, cold formed steel, and concrete structures (Cold Formed Steel Framing is a plus).
  • 3 years of AutoCAD and various design software are required.

  • Computer skills: Ability to utilize MSOffice (Words, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and Internet Explorer to effectively complete work.
  • Reading and writing: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals as well as legal documents.
  • Problem-solving: effectively and efficiently handle complex problems.
  • Positive thinker and motivator: manage challenging and constantly changing aspects of work in the positive manner.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Warehouse / Office work environment with exposure to different noises, dust, temperature and the like.
  • Local travel may be required.
