Taping Tool Technician

The Taping Tool Technician may work repairing either automatic taping tools or non-automatic taping tools such as power sanders, application pumps, power washers, etc. The technician will be cross trained to perform a variety of different functions within the production environment.


  • Inspects tools to identify the causes of problems or defects. Tools include, but are not limited to:
    • Automatic Tapers (Bazooka)
    • Finishing Boxes
    • Corner Finishers:
    • MudRunners
    • Pumps
    • Corner Rollers
    • Corner Applicators
    • Nail Spotters
    • Finishing Box Handles
    • Extension Handles
  • Performs quick and accurate diagnoses, troubleshoots problems, and repairs malfunctioning tool components.
  • Assembles, dismantles, and installs tools as necessary.
  • Applies quality assurance standards to determine proper repairs and maintenance.
  • Researches and identifies problems and repairs equipment.
  • Follows standard work instructions to repair automatic taping tools in line with determined quality standards and factory settings.
  • Meets all quality specifications.
  • Maintains paperwork assigned by any level of management.
  • Clearly communicates with Manager regarding the status of the assignments and potential issues.
  • Submits requisitions to Manager as needed to maintain regular inventory of tool parts and supplies.
  • Sets an efficient work pace that maintains high quality work while meeting the needs of the department.
  • Maintains an organized and clean appearance of all work areas.
  • Complies with all safe work practices, policies, and processes, and always acts in a safe manner.
  • Adheres to all applicable policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Adheres to attendance requirements and is flexible to work overtime as required.
  • Is willing to cross train for proficiency on a variety of duties.
  • Works well in a team environment and demonstrates commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.


  • 2+ years of related work experience.
  • Possess HS Diploma/GED.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and clean DMV record.
  • Work experience in a construction related environment.
  • Able to read and follow blueprints for tool assembly and repair.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.


  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Basic computer and math skills.
  • Ability to use all necessary tools properly, safely, and efficiently, especially power tools.
  • Aptitude to work with small hand tools as well as pneumatic and cordless tools.
  • Ability to grasp mechanical concepts
  • Excellent work ethic and high-quality productivity output.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work positively and respond promptly to requests, needs, and concerns.
  • Recognize problems, identify possible root causes, and help resolve routine problems.
  • Must be able to learn quickly and have a desire to succeed.
  • Excellent time management, prioritizing, multitasking, and follow-up skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have exceptional organization skills.
  • Strong work ethic and interpersonal relationship skills; ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees and external people.


  • Warehouse / Office with exposure to different noises, dust, temperature, and the like.
  • Physical exertion required including, but not limited to, use of hands for fingering and handling tools, walking, standing, stooping, bending, and ability to lift and move a minimum of 25 pounds.
