Carpenters Training Center

Photographer: Jason Crider

The Carpenters Union of Northern California is committed to developing a skilled workforce whose training keeps pace with the evolving technological advances in the industry. The 55,000 square foot, state-of-the-art training center includes modern classrooms and spacious shop areas, offering apprentices an educational environment and training experience consistent with the quality of work the on which the union prides itself.

Apprentices learning carpentry, drywalling, lathing, flooring, insulation, scaffolding, and shingling study in one of the eight modern classrooms, and then reinforce what they’ve learned through hands-on experience in the adjacent 37,500 sf shop. The shop area is equipped with sacrificial and replaceable plywood flooring that enables students to anchor their projects to the floor. A 5,000 sf, twenty-booth welding shop allows training for both electric and gas welding. The training facility, which also includes an outdoor training yard, is helping Northern California to meet the growing demand for a skilled carpenter workforce capable of delivering the highest quality construction services.
