Children’s Day School

Photographer: Cesar Rubio

Originally constructed as a church, the adaptive reuse project consisted of a full interior build-out into a middle school with classrooms, offices, and a multipurpose assembly space within the existing envelope. The building area expanded from 2 stories to 3 and increased from 17,000 square feet to 19,500 square feet. The former sanctuary space is transformed into the Founders’ Hall, a new focal point for arts and community life. An array of flexible learning spaces, such as the tech-savvy Innovation Lab, provide space for hands-on experimentation.
